The soldiers and the Jewish leaders had their opportunity to turn to Christ in faith. They had an opportunity to learn the truth from him, but they failed to do so. Don’t make that same mistake. Your eternal salvation depends upon affirming Jesus claim to be the Son of God. If you think you can mock Jesus and sit in judgment of him, you’ll find that he’ll one day be sitting in judgment of you.
Jesus, God in the flesh, submitted himself to the hands of angry sinners. But one day those same sinners will be in the hands of an angry God. Read More ...
Peter succumbed to the fear of man, and that’s a weakness that we may still experience today. But we need not let fear control us. We must put on the whole armor of God and stand against the wiles of the devil. Instead of denying the Lord, we should be prepared to affirm our loyalty to Christ no matter the results. If we truly fear God, we won’t fear what man can do to us. Read More ...
Julius Caesar was right. “Language is a powerful weapon … [that] can be used to manipulate others.” Pro-abortionists use language to manipulate ignorant people into thinking that abortion is healthcare and a constitutional right when it is neither. Read More ...
When our ultimate aim is to bring glory to God, we gauge success in terms of faithfulness to God and his word. Success is not a matter of facilities or numbers of people in the pews or budget. Faithfulness is success. Read More ...
What it all boils down to is the choice between Christ and chaos. People will tolerate chaos only temporarily. Eventually, society will submit to a tyrant who will promise safety and peace. Totalitarianism is the end result of a secular worldview. It’s only when we choose Christ that we have freedom. As John Adams said, our constitution is fit only for a religious and moral people; it is wholly inadequate for any other. Read More ...
The Poverty Carol reminds us that Jesus welcomes humble, broken people. He was born in very humble surroundings to poor parents. His first days were spent in a feeding trough most likely surrounded by farmyard animals. The Bible assures us that Jesus sympathizes with us in our weaknesses. He understands the human condition. He’s well aware that we are broken, sinful people. When we come to him humbly and repentantly, he will welcome us warmly. Read More ...
At Christmastime, we celebrate Jesus’ birth, and rightly so. We should recognize that Jesus’ birth was the culmination of a long line of people and events that had to unfold in a certain way. In part, it’s these genealogical lists that give us confidence that Jesus is whom he claimed to be—not only the son of Mary and the adopted son of Joseph, but the son of David, the son of Abraham and, most significantly, the eternal Son of God. We can face our trials and tribulations with faith or with a lack of faith. We can allow the trials to weaken us, or we can persevere faithfully through the trial. And prayer is often the key to our response. We should face our trials with prayer and faith. Read More ...
We should not be seeking high positions of authority for ourselves. If we have positions of authority, we should not be tyrants or dictators. Christian leaders must serve others like Jesus did, with humility and compassion. Read More ...
Jesus’ death was not due simply to human conspiracies. Our enemy, the devil, the accuser of the brethren, was deeply involved in the plot to kill Jesus. Even so, it was not Satan that put Jesus on the cross, nor was it Judas or even Pilate. Jesus went to his death willingly, as a voluntary sacrifice for our sins. Read More ...
