As we all are probably aware, divorce is an issue that affects many families these days.

Young people who will potentially be married in the near future should be well aware of what the Bible says about marriage and divorce. Young people especially should make a commitment well before marriage to avoid the conditions that lead to divorce. Married Christians should insure that they allow nothing in their relationship that would lead them to contemplate divorce.

This is a difficult and controversial issue that affects us today. The topic is in this text and several others in the Bible, Jesus addresses it, and Paul teaches on it, so it’s an issue we should understand and think about correctly.

Today I want to consider what Deut 24 has to say about this issue, and then I want to look at it more broadly and consider what the NT says about divorce and remarriage.
